Join the Joint Committee on Aging and Independence for an important conversation on the future of long-term services and supports (LTSS) financing in Massachusetts. Chaired by Representative Thomas Stanley (D-Waltham) and Senator Patricia Jehlen (D-Somerville), the panel, “The Future of Aging, Now: Why LTSS Financing Cannot Wait & How Massachusetts Must Lead in Creating a Sustainable Solution,” will take place at 11:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, June 18, in Room 222 of the Massachusetts State House.
As more residents live longer and with greater support needs, the challenge of paying for LTSS is becoming one of the state’s most pressing aging issues. Too many Massachusetts families face limited private insurance options, rising caregiving demands, and the difficult reality of having to spend down assets to qualify for MassHealth. This timely discussion will spotlight why sustainable LTSS financing is essential for older adults, caregivers, providers, and the Commonwealth alike.
Moderated by Elissa Sherman, President of LeadingAge Massachusetts, this expert panel will bring together leaders from government, philanthropy, and policy to examine the LTSS affordability crisis and its far-reaching impact on older adults, family caregivers, the economy, and the state budget. Panelists include:
- Robin Lipson, Secretary of the Executive Office of Aging and Independence
- Kaitlyn Kenney Walsh, President & CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Massachusetts
- Mark Railsback, Government Relations Senior Director at Genworth
- Marc Cohen, Co-Director of the LeadingAge LTSS Center at UMass Boston
The conversation will also highlight steps the Commonwealth has already taken and explore how policymakers and stakeholders can work together to build a stronger, more sustainable path forward. This is a valuable opportunity to hear from experts, engage with a critical policy issue, and be part of the discussion shaping the future of aging in Massachusetts.
