The Global Campaign to Combat Ageism will sponsor the first international screening of the documentary film Duty Free. The online screening will be live-captioned in all languages spoken at the United Nations.

Tickets to the screening are free, but you must register.

The film tells the story of Rebecca Danigelis, a 75-year old woman who gets fired without cause from her lifelong job as a hotel housekeeper. The documentary gives visibility to the issue of ageism against older people in the labor market and exposes the economic insecurity that ensues and shapes the future of many older people worldwide.

This international premiere will be opened by Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization. The premiere will be followed by a panel debate with Rebecca Danigelis, Sian-Pierre Regis, her son and the film’s director, and Martha E. Newton, Deputy director-general of the International Labour Organization.
