Since 2020, many healthcare organizations hired diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and health equity staff for guidance in response to past and present pervasive, systemic social injustices and demands for equitable representation among executive level (C-suite) leadership. Although DEI staff were terminated at a much higher rate than other executives in 2022, many organizations recognize the value these positions have and are seeking best implementation practices. The National Academies Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity will host a public hybrid workshop to examine the successes and challenges of DEI and health equity in C-suites, dimensions of DEI and health equity commitments, strategies for achieving internal and external goals, and potential metrics for measuring success.
