Carey Candrian, PhD, is senior vice president of research and programs at LeadingAge, where she provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the LeadingAge research and program portfolio. She previously spent 16 years as a researcher and associate professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Candrian is nationally recognized for her research and advocacy to improve how we care for older adults, especially those who are marginalized. She conducts community-led research that engages the people closest to the issues shaping how older adults are seen, valued, and cared for across a range of care settings and contexts. She disseminates her findings through journal articles, film, and photography.
Candrian earned her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder and completed postgraduate training at Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, Switzerland. In 2025, she served as a health and aging policy fellow for the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health.
