Kathrin Boerner, PhD, is associate professor of gerontology at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Previously, she was senior research scientist at The New Jewish Home’s Institute on Aging, and associate professor in the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics & Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY.

Boerner received a BA in psychology from Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany, an MA in psychology from the University of Trier, and a PhD in psychology from the Free University of Berlin.

Her research focuses on strengthening caregiver preparedness and identifying barriers to high-quality end-of-life care.
